The cycles, circles, color and taste of healing

Why do I think of oranges?
This morning’s numbers tell of new
Emerging clusters, public health
Alarms, and I see oranges.

Why do I think of oranges?
Appreciate we stand apart
For social distance stops contagion,
And I think of oranges.

Why do I think of oranges?
We believe their juice bolsters
Defense against a cold or flu.
I think of oranges right now.

Why do I think of oranges?
They mean for me that all nature
Works with us to counter corona:
That makes me think of oranges.

Just as oranges appear in cycles,
The heat of summer, when it comes,
May suppress spread of viral illness,
I think of oranges right now.
